Retro Swimwear by Popina is known for being many things: swimwear designers, couturiers, and fashion hunters of bygone eras. That’s why we love Jantzen Swimwear. Back in 1939, the Portland-based Jantzen Swimwear Company dipped its toe in corsetry, or “foundations” as they were called in that day. It was an intelligent attempt to diversify their products in the time of the Great Depression.
Today, the style of the Corset has emerged as an icon of style of the 30’s and 40’s where women’s curves were exaggerated and celebrated. Busts were beautiful! Hips were hip! Today…the Corset has evolved to be more than a foundational piece, but a symbolic applause to the body of a woman.
Popina Swimwear’s website features a Retro Inspired Corset One Piece from the Jantzen Swimwear line. It’s subtle corset look and elegant silhouette makes for an instant classic look.
