NE Portland Sports Bar - NEPO 42 is a great new Sports Bar on NE 42nd Avenue.  NEPO 42 is a great place to check out a Blazers Game, it is a comfortable non smoking environment and offers great food.  NEPO 42 is about five blocks north of Popina the Porland Swimwear Boutique featuring Retro Swimsuits.

The owner Matthew got into the Bar/Restaurant business in a round about way.  He developed a successful catering business and was looking around for a kitchen space to lease out.  Because NE 42nd Avenue is still a little off the radar for retail he was able to get into the space at a price that was cheaper than just having a kitchen space to support his catering business.  The result is a comfortable NE Portland Sports Bar that has awesome food.  I highly recommend the Jalapeno Poppers which are made from scratch - very hard to find.

NE Portland Pizza - Bob’s Rocket Pizza is located three doors North of Popina the Portland Swimwear boutique.  Bob’s has a long history on NE 42nd Avenue.  Initially the shop was owned by Bob who in turn sold the business to Tim and finally sold the business to the current owner Joe (the store manager) and his brother.  Interestingly both Tim and Bob still work at Rocket Pizza although Bob less than Tim.  Rocket Pizza offers NE Portland Pizza Delivery and you may even get a delivery in their new electric car - very cool.

Since Joe has taken over the shop has has made several great changes including improved seating, lighting, updated equipment and a new cooling system , all make for a more enjoyable stay as you are picking up your pizza.

At this time Joe does not have more than a few seats to accommodate pick up customers, but Joe and his brother have big plans to expand their humble pizza joint into a larger space that will accommodate seating.  In fact a new structure has already been built, complete with a glass garage door which will allow for indoor/outdoor seating when the weather allows.

We have been very impressed with the heart and soul Joe has put into giving Rocket Pizza heart and soul and look forward to their continued expansion and success.

 But how about the pizza…….well it is very tasty, my favorite is any of their meat pizzas, they do not skimp on toppings also their taco pizza is very good as well as their veggie.  Really though the best value and deal is their lunch special where you can get an individual sized pizza for $3.50, very tasty and the price is right on the money.

NE Portland Bakery  is right across the street from Popina the Portland Swimwear Boutique.  Delphina’s began in the back kitchen of Delphina’s Restaurant which was making its own bread nightly for its dinner customers. Three partners, Al Edelman, Michael Cronan, and Stan Nowack, had a dream to take this bread to the streets, and soon, a delivery truck rolled out in the early morning hours to bring hot, freshly-baked loaves of this bread closer to more people.The Mistell’s soon joined this team, in 1985, and the bakery thrived.  The restaurant is long gone, Carolyn Mistell is sole owner of Delphina’s Bakery, and the Portland tradition lives on and includes a whole line of artisan breads and breakfast pastries, still baked and delivered fresh daily.  Over the years these breads and pastries have been shaped by a passionate love for tradition, excellence, and quality of product and of customer service.

NE Portland Mexican Restaurant Ole Frijole offers something rarely found in a taqueria.  It is clean, affordable and very good food. 

Ole Frijole allows you to take a little escape to Mexico without leaving Portland and yes it is Cheap Mexican Food in Portland, affordable but also very very good.

Ole Frijole is a family run restaurant, it is not uncommon to find the father of the family working with his son.  The food at Ole Frijole is very tasty and runs the gambit from Shrimp Soup which is delicious and a meal in itself to tacos, burritos and even American hamburger which I have not sampled but looks really good.  Although all Mexican food has very similar ingredients Ole Frijole really knows how to but their own signature stamp on what they do.

Doggie Business is located next door to the Portland Swimwear Boutique - Popina Swimwear!

Retro Swimsuits by Jantzen are on the way to the Portland Swimwear Boutique Popina Swim.  Jantzen is the innovator of swimwear and used to have their headquarters in Portland, Oregon.  A couple years ago Jantzen moved their operations from Portland to Miami when they were purchased by Perry Ellis. 

Alas, not a Portland company any longer but the good news is that since Perry Ellis purchased Jantzen there has been some reinvigoration of the Jantzen brand.  Jantzen has looked back to their roots and their innovation of the past to reinvent retro.  Earlier this week we placed an order for the Jantzen Vamp suit shown below.

A picture can say 1,000 words, but as you can see Jantzen does get it, not only a great retro flavored suit with all the stylings such as a modified privacy panel and the classic strapless look but a great piece of art work with the contracting colors and the vintage boat.

Although Jantzen is manufacturing Swimwear in Portland any longer, Popina is very excited to bring Jantzen Swimwear back to Oregon and are proud to offer Portland’s largest selection of Women’s Swimwear.
